What's Is It Worth? 69 440HP Complete Engine, Rebuilt, Running in Car now?
I got this 440 in my car now, completely rebuilt about 2500 miles on it, I am rebuilding the original 383 and putting it back in the car. The 440 has stamped on it XS23L9B2432908 (or XS29L9B) Which should be a 69 440HP engine out of a Charger.

It's running in the vehicle right now, and will be complete minus Carburetor which Is the original for my car. Exhaust manifolds, Intake etc.

Is the engine worth anything? It seems most people want to build their own, this one is built to stock specs, nothing fancy, just a good running 440. I got three engines under my shelves right now and I just don't need another one.

Okay, I joined. I will double check that VIN on the side of the engine tonight. I know the 23(29) was really hard to make out the second digit, if it was a 3 or 9. My eyesight isn't what it used to be.
It's in a 70 Cuda right now that I purchased near Shreveport Louisiana ... Hopefully it belongs to a vehicle that is still around, It would be neat to reunite the two.

I am rebuilding the original 383 to go back into the Cuda, Don't really need another engine under the bench.

here's a picture of the top of the block

oKAY... It is what it is.. so here is a picture of the side of the block....I zoomed in and cropped it... Looks like this. definitely a XS29L, Definitely has 13 Digits. Looks like I added an extra 2 in there just for some excitement.

.. Got a casting date of  10-28-68

anyway, I am trying to sell it to help pay for the 383 Build. It's still in the car for now.
My 383 is complete, but I will need to get the carb and distributor off of the 440 as they belong to the 383.  MY poor 383... grungy as it is,

Also as a side note, I also have a 66 Satellite with the 273 that I want to put a 340 or 360 in and I might be interested in a trade, this 440 for a nice small block ... I am in no rush as I am sure it will be a month or so before I get the 383 back....

The distributor in the 440 is NOT from the 383... Not gonna happen....

1966hemi

That 440 distributor will not fit a low deck B series engine. The longer shaft only fits a 413, 426 wedge, 440 or 426 HEMI. I have read where someone made a spacer to make up the extra length to fit a low deck but I would not recommend doing so.

Pugly

forgot all about that.. the B RB thing...

I started this whole thing trying to figure out what a good 440 is worth. anybody here have an idea what I should ask?

Pugly

I'm back......

Man, That took forever. I finally got the 440 out of the car and the 383 back in. I had a couple of people interested in the 440, but lost all the contact info. If anyone is still interested, it's ready for a new home. Thought I would come back here first since it was a Charger engine originally.

I did use the distributor in the 383 with one of those spacers... Worked great.

Don't have an ad on the board.EDIT.. Now there is an ad.

I am asking $2500.00. It is an engine that you could bolt right in and go driving. It had No Issues in the car, ran perfect, I just wanted to install the original 383. I have the Exhaust Manifolds with it, if anyone needs those.

I spent almost 3500 on rebuilding the 383.

Still might be willing to trade. Really need a nice small block that will fit in the 66 Satellite Convertible.
