Shot of my old hood.

Just checked my new AMD hood and it does have the threaded holes for the main bracket but none for the little angle support bracket.  Guess we'll both have to drill holes for self threading screws!

Charger-Bodie

They originally were just screws too. Be very careful on the depth of the drill bit and the length of the screws.

Yeah I'm a bit afraid to have to do this now!
It´s difficult to gauge the clearance between the two sheet metal on the hood.

Use a drill bit stop collar.

Or you can simply slide socket onto the drill bit only exposing enuf bit to go through the steel.

Use painters tape or cardboard to protect your paint.

Hi guys,

I'm now installing my headliner and in the kit I ordered I have 2 different sail panels.
One is cover with liner, the other one is not.

I though that I would have to install the headliner and then finish by making a flap under the cardboard at the bottom of the C pillar.
But I'm not sure.
I searched on the forum and on v21hemicharger's thread the last photo shows a awesome installation :
http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,47568.0.html

I didn't understand if he used the covered sail panel and get the headliner behind it or if he covered it ?
It seems to have one more line which goes from the bottom of the side window to the top of the rear window. (revealing a separation between the headliner and the cardboard ?)
That's why I'm asking myself.

I searched on YouTube too, we see well the sail panel, but there the guy covers it entirely :

Nobody can help me for the sail panels ? For the rest I'm ok and the result is innate look good.
Just the sail panels to finish and the headliner will be done :)

I don't believe those panels are used on a 2nd charger. The headliner material goes all the way down to the package tray as in the picture with the black headliner. There should be a small piece of cardboard behind the lower section of the headliner that it glues to.
Look forward to seeing your headliner pictures.
Thanks

You need the sail panels . They just are not supposed to be layered in headlining. The headliner itself goes right over them.

NICE!, But come on, only 2 pictures?  :nana:

PtitRaisin

Thanks !

More photos to come, but before I have to clean it properly.

Today I'm troubleshooting under the car.
I drained the crankcase, completed the fluid level in the transmission, and now I'm trying to drain the rear axle to put some new oil and hyperlubricant additive.
I have like a bearing noise at the rear but hard to identify from where it comes. I heard more from the right side, but I have dirty grease/ or very viscous oil which splattered around the bearing between the shaft and axle.

At the front I have a noise too from the right cylinders, like a small "psshhit psshhit", audible during deceleration.
I'll first check the exhaust gaskets. But I hope this is doesn't come from one of the valves. :-\

And to think you were looking for the best year Charger a couple of years ago.

PtitRaisin

Yeah, I spend some hours on it. The car is not perfect, but the whole is cool to watch !

By chance, the "pschiiit" is just a leak on the gasket between the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe. It didn't like one acceleration.
I have to order another one.  ;)
Quentin

PtitRaisin

I'm looking for ordering some parts.

Changing the gasket and the bearing won't be a problem.
But I'm thinking of what I can do about my transmission.
The 2nd gear seems to whistle.

My idea is to drain completly the transmission and change the filter.
Do you think new oil will reduce this whistling ?
Maybe it's not serious and its the normal functioning of the 727.
But it's my first automatic car, I'm not used.

After all the work done on my car, I have tendency to worry for nothing.
