I too would avoid messing with the trusses.  You can do alot of work sitting in a chair.

nice addition to the stable.
                         i have a lift in my garage. it goes right into the attic (or rafters). i will have to get out there and take a couple pic's.

I modified my trusses in my garage to intstall my 2 post lift. It's been like that for seven years know. It's 12ft tall so the brace that connects the two posts together is inches from the roof. Only problem I've had is I have to watch the big cars. My wife's van can only go 5ft because of the A frame design of the roof but if works. I can put my 68 charger on the lift and put my 69 under it.
