I want to do a V-8 swap on my 89 Dakota.(probably a 318) I have read the V-8 Dakotas have a unique oil pan and motor mounts. Are the 97-newer Dakota V-8 oil pans the same as the pre-96 oil pans?

Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

just use a rear sump oil pan with appropriate oil pick up tube and you will be fine.  If your dakota is a v6, you will need the schumacher swap kit to go to a v8.  What tranny do you have?

It's a automatic...an A500 maybe?  ???   I plan to swap that also.

My idea was to get the engine, tranny, electronics, radiator and electric fan from a donor. So that's why I was asking about the 97-newer engines.
