Well, for the past 2 years now, I have been making a scratch build wooden trophy centered around Hot Wheels since the title of the award is the Kids Choice Award -( goes to the favorite car picked out by kids 16 and under).  First year it was a "Used Car Lot", last year was a "Drive-in Movie" and this years theme will be "1/4 mile drag strip".  Here are some pics of how it is coming a long since I started working on it today.

First pic is the 4 sides of the "Grand Stand" where I used some finishing nails to make a jig and hold it in place while the glue dried.  Still have to put the roof on and paint it.

reaction time / speed signs assembled and painted.  Christmas tree gets its lights.   And all signs get numbered and christmas tree gets its pre-stage and stage lights put on.

well, I was actually ahead of schedule and finished up the award in between giving a tune up on the charger for the year and cleaning and polishing up the under carriage.   Let me know what you think and be sure to check out that yellow Pontiac GTO on there!

Ok, figured since I had a couple people asking me what the finished project looked like with the decals in place, I took more pics and figured I would share with everyone here as well.  The only last thing that needs to be put on is the gold metal engraved plate that will be on the front angled piece of the wood.  Just a reminder that if you are in the area, this award is given to the vehicle that receives the most votes by kids 16 and under.  Our show is the 62nd Annual Spring Show and Swap Meet hosted by the NJ Region Antique Automobile Club of America.  Show is from 9-3 on Sunday, May 5th at Automatic Switch Company, 50 Hanover Rd. Florham Park, NJ.  We also have a replica of the 1966 Batmobile that is supposed to be there, weather permitting and also might have a General Lee and possibly a Rosco police car too if things work out.
