I REALLY like the rear tire size on this Charger and the STANCE is awesome! Does anyone know who's it is and what size the front and rear wheels & tires are?

BTW: Is this the same car that was at Ohlone Park in Freemont? The one with the cut rear wheel lip?

That looks like a nice car,,,,I run 295/65/15's on mine,,,its a BIG tire,,,and looks killer,,,,,his looks about the same.....

This is a 68 Charger from the NATS,,,,,very cool,,,HUGE tire out back.......

Blown70

WOW those  are some nice 68's, CB I like the color of that charger, do not see that often.  Also I do not see the rear lip behind the tire... Did he cut them off for clearance?

And I love the white stripe R2.

Rolling_Thunder

the wheels are 15X7 and 15X10....     the grey car was tubbed just so you know

That's Savage68's car (well it was until he put it on eBay). The car has mini tubs in the back. I'll see if I can dig up the original post about it.

EDIT: magically... here it is:

I wonder why he mini-tubbed the car   ??? Especially for a street car.. ....I have run HUGE tires on mine with no rub,,,providing you get the backspacing correct.... :icon_smile_wink:

You should see the size of a 295/65/15......its a BIG tire,,,,,I have it on a 15x8 Prostar rim,,,and NO rub,,,,and the wheel wells are stock,,,,no tubs,,,etc,,,previously i ran a 325/50/15 with no problems...

The pic of the 68' I posted is 572JIM's car,,,,,HEMI,,,bad MO'fo of a car...... not sure on that tire size,,,but his car is tubbed,,,,and its a really big tire for racing...

TruckDriver

So, what is the biggest 50x15 tire you can get then? 295? OR, would 295/65/15's be wider and taller on a 10 inch wheel?

Hey R2 - how did you get the 325/50/15's to fit ?  I am looking for that set up on mine as soon as i go hunting for new tires....    did you use the same 15X8 weld with what ? 4.5" BS ?

I had them on 15x8 rims,,,,,BUT,,,,,I ended up going w/295/65/15 and like them MUCH more....overall its a bigger tire,,,taller,,,and really fills the wheel well....unlike the 325/50/15 (which were also on a 15x8),,,,
Ron (firefighter3931) is also going w/the 295/65/15........
I think the back spacing is 4.5"
Good luck,,,you will like them.

That last black 68 Charger I am pretty sure is the one that runs in one of the fastest streetcar series and
has a 572 Hemi in it.

The 325/50's will also fit using a 15x10 wheel with 5.5in backspacing. This is with a stock suspension/stock wheel tub. A member over at Moparts runs a tire shop and has a 69 charger himself with that wheel/tire combo on it. Like R2, i will be going with the taller 295/65's to take some gear out of the car for street and hwy cruising. With 4.10's....the 29.5in tire knocks the ratio down to 3.61 which is fine for hwy cruising.   ;D

Ron

Ps. The 15x8 with 4.5in backspace will also work with the 325's

Ummmm.....Now what do you guys consider as fitting???
I do not think anything bigger than a 295 series tire will actually fit a 68-70 Charger...at stock ride height without rubbing.
None of the cars pictured looks to be at stock height so the tire sizes posted could be misleading to someone thinking they could just slap them on.
Please correct me if I am wrong on this or my measurements.

R2, the 295/65/15  that you are using, are they BFGs? You car looks good with them on. I am using BFG 295/50/15 and want to switch to the 65 series.

Hey R2, do you have any way to confirm 4.5" backspacing? Also, are BFG Drag Radials the only tires that come in 295/65/15's? I like the look, it's just that I think BFG Drag Radials only have 9/32 of tread and wear MUCH faster than standard TA's. And if Savage68's car is running 295/70's then I wonder what brand he's running... I was going to have a set of steelies widened by Stockton Wheel to 15 X 9's, but I'll just have the rears made to 15 X 10's if that works better. And how about mounting...is it hard to get them up there past the wheel well lip when your putting them on? I imagine that the 1.5" leafspring offset kit would help a bit...

BTW: IMO that size looks PERFECT on a Charger...fills up the rear wheel wells nicely!!

That's something I got thinking about today...different brands of tires will fit the car a little differently. Just because 3 brands have 325/50R15 (for example) on them, does not mean that they actually fit the same on the rim & on the car.
From past automotive experience & currently from dealing with motorcycle tires every day, this is a guaranteed grey area.

when it comes to these tires sizes im lost  but i think im right about this if not tell me 295/65/15
295 is this about 29.5 inch tall tire ???  and 65  about 11.5 inches wide????    15 i would think is the rim size 15 inch  i need to do some investigating i am in the process of tire and rim buying for my 69 charger

R2 are you running air shocks if not what type r u runnin

triple_green

those 29.5" tires must kill the low end. Unless you have 4.10s. Also I wouldn't want to jack up my car that high in the back. It already is a marginal handling car.

295 means the tire is 295mm wide, 65 means the sidewalls height is 65% of the tread width, and it's a 15 inch rim.

So using one of the many internet calculators.... It's 30.1" diameter, Sidewall is 7.5" tall, 94.5" circumference, and it's 11.61" wide. The width of the contact patch will vary depending on the rim width.
