How to tell if someone is snooping in your email

Is there a way to find out?  My daughter is in a never ending custody battle.  There are emails that are now missing that were good ammunition against her ex.  She has since changed her account.

He must have her password.    A good computer guy can still find them in her computer maybe.

If the courts are involved then I would bet a court order could get you the deleted emails from the email providers backups.  I bet a phone call might even be able to get them since she is the acct owner.

I wouldn't be so fast to assume the "ex" got into the email. I know there are some email clients that will allow the sender to delete or "recall" a sent message. The program I use at work will let me do that.  I think it was intended to prevent some of those "oops" moments, and I don't know if it will recall a read message or not.

Oh, it was the ex without a doubt.  He's a sociopath that has devoted the last six years to stealing her kid's.  he doesn't give a damn about the children at all, just wants to control and destroy her.  The only emails that  were missing were ones that could expose his lies in court...

2. I'm assuming this is an online email account? You will likely need help from the provider. They will be able to restore the old emails AND can tell you the IP addresses that have accessed it. The trick is actually getting them to do anything.

If you can prove what happened and get the emails back, then the whole thing might actually work to your daughter's advantage.
       
I would tell the judge about the whole thing even if you can't prove for sure that the ex was the deleter.  It would still be pretty convincing that those certain ones got deleted just now. 





I would try to get the ex to dig himself a hole with this stuff. 

Tell the judge (with the ex present) that the ex deleted a bunch of incriminating emails that you were going to use as evidence against him.  Bring up specific things in the emails that he supposedly said.  Let the ex deny it all.  THEN whip out the recovered emails and wreck his credibility.

Damn Mike, If I ever get into a law suit I'm going to ask your opinion on it.    That's a pretty good idea.
