I noticed you keep your really cool cars parked along side the the garage. Just kidding. Great to see you are back at it and pushing forward. I hope you can find a work around on the insurance that will get you on the road soon.

actually i did get it insurance and even got plates for it

i dont like the company though they told me the insurance will be higher on this charger than on my dads chevy uplander, and i asked "why?" and they told me "cause you know, 2 door cars are much smaller than vans" so.. i dont think they even know what a charger is  :smilielol:

So while looking up info on dodge viper slipyokes i somehow learned that 66 dodge coronet mastercylinder pushrods work on 1976 corvette mastercylinders, thanks speedwaymotors!

The cool thing about corvette mastercylinders are that the manual and power brake cylinders are used in both applications so this one from a power brake car (although it could use a rebuild) will work as manual. the other obvious plus is that its already designed for four wheel disc brakes, and they are about 35$ reman.

i also made some upper rad brackets all i need is some rubber padding for all of them and it should work, i also tested the dipstick for accuracy, i have very little oil in the engine, and the dipstick confirms this  :smilielol:

Back to the driveshaft though, it looks like the 74" junkyard one is overkill as it looks like ill just need something about 55" which i found plenty of in the same yard, so maybe ill exchange it.

also i was told a 30 spline (which is technically a 29 spline) slipyoke from a 727 will fit the viper tailshaft perfectly. i've found a couple places that help confirm this but does anyone else know?  :shruggy:

made a simple bracket to mount the vette master to the dodge parts, and im CLRing the slipyoke before i try to jamb it to the t-56

Baldwinvette77

So after The clr cleaned up the yoke, i cut the barrel down to a viper spec 4 and 5/8 and, well it fit perfectly. Yeah so for future reference a 727 yoke from a 60's imperial fits a 90's viper

and it turns out i need a 60" driveshaft, and i actually know of one in the trunk of a 60's Bonneville  :scratchchin:

and i finished my corvette to coronet to charger mastercylinder adaptor

dyslexic teddybear

I knew it!!  :yesnod:

I couldn't be the only one saving things like a broken oil filter wrench......

Eventually I would have a use......for something round.......

Honestly.....I'm not a hoarder......really.....I'll use all that......stuff......

Seriously, I like your ingenuity.

Keep at it! :2thumbs:

Baldwinvette77

Thank ye teddy  :yesnod:

My *Sh!t to buy" list is getting progressively shorter

i got a junkyard 59.5" pontiac driveshaft for 10$ and with my 727 yoke, and 2 conversion ujoints to fit it to the car,for about 50$ i had a usable driveshaft, it does have a couple dings in it, but whatever.

i also got a starter from a guy who is building a wicked 68 charger just a few blocks from my house, AMD metal, massive stroker, custom dash, 66 style console, cool car.

and i got a water pump and the correct wheel studs for the rear (the ones i had on had a slightly small knurl so they spun sometimes)

next i have to pull the trans, because i ordered a clutch kit and throwout bearing... Still no flywheel, a bit short on cash for that, hoping ill find a good used one locally so i can avoid 100$ shipping charges  :eek2:

and although he is a member here, he never made a build thread, so here is that starter sellers project.

cool car  :drool5:

Did not know the starter was that close to your house  :2thumbs:

I hope you're keeping all receipts so we can see how much it took to do this.
Then again you may not want to know how much the nickels and dimes really add up to.       :2thumbs:

Today with the help of the only person available we yanked the tranny untill it did what we wanted.

i stuck on my viper throwout bearing, which was only like 80$

and i test fit my c3 corvette clutch disc, i still need a flywheel though.. and i need to modify the motorplate... and swap out the pilot bushing..... and find correct bolts... .. and plug the speedometer hole on the transmission...

Ghoste

She looks like a willing assistant.

Baldwinvette77

I guess so, She was asleep, and i walked into her house, and poked her till she agreed to "watch over me" as i worked, then i suckered her into actually helping. The best part was when we were under the car and she kicked over a broom and she screamed, then cried because she thought the car fell  :smilielol: .. yeah.. im a terrible human being

Went to the junkyard in hopes i would find a flywheel to reserface.. i DID find one but its the larger 143 tooth external balance version, but it was free so whatever.. The junkyard owners brother told me that a 318 one from a later model truck would work, so i got one for like a dakota or something, i also got a matching pilot bearing, which was less than 100$ together  :shruggy:

the clutch disc is for a "Rockcrusher" transmission and the pressure plate is a generic 10.5" unit then were like 120$? from rock auto

i also sorted out my motorplate issue, i had to drill 2 holes for the starter bolts, and cut out a trapezoid shape for it to fit the engine, but its not really a structural piece anyway, basically a shim and dust shield 2 in 1

First i removed the old pilot bushing using ductape and blury, pixelated bread

had to enlarge these holes

i also found a literal truckload of oversized driveshafts... i dont currently need one, but i guess ill never need to order up a new one

Pretty cool feeling though, once i stick the transmission and driveshaft back in, the drivetrain will almost be sorta complete kinda, maybe.

With the use of a jack, bricks, a peice of steel and c-clamps, me and my new assistant got the transmission back on, all it took was 2 and a half hours  :smilielol:
no, but really it was a struggle  :eek2:

Still.. She took it well.. all she wants is for me to build her a shelby cobra as payment.. that or the 67 chevy from supernatural

(This was taken AFTER she helpped  )

oh and 2 dudes in a 69 Beaumont stopped by to give emotional support

Fitz73Chrgr

A Beaumont, eh?  Those are pretty rare, no?

A Beaumont, eh?  Those are pretty rare, no?

i've only ever seen 2 this and dark green one, they are basically chevelles with gto interiors and custom grilles and tallights. this one has a 427 and a 4 speed

from what i've heard they were sold in small town pontiac dealers, because GTO's were not readily available in canada, but im no expert  :shruggy:

Baldwinvette77

so i finally completed my clutch linkage, tried to bleed it, and realized bleeding and checking for leaks by yourself is kinda hard,
but i did manage to adapt a british wesworth.. or whatever master cylinder to a dodge viper slave cylinder.. which is cool

with noone around to help, i decided i'd do something about the hood scoop, i mentioned before that i didnt hate it but i didnt like it either, which is basically the same thing, so i cut it up, turned it into a custom shaker, and made some brackets, i hate this one far, far less  :yesnod:

Im gonna go back out and stare at it for a while  :coolgleamA:
