Similar, but not exactly.
was thinking more along the lines of "Nitro" style skull 'ghosted'...I'm sure some of the bikes would have a nice selection.

In Va, we have some strict rules, but the wiper mod wouldn't fly. However, the rest, as long as those Honda or whatever seats are fully adjustable, they would pass.

Seats have to be adjustable? ???? I know a guy who built a deathproof Nova clone, and he passed with his seat welded to the floor

Thing is, here, a safety inspector that has what's known as an offense of the heart meaning,
You passed something that in your heart you knew wouldn't pass, can be sued.
the state police consider it a 'Cival' matter and they don't defend, or get involved.

There's offenses of the mind, meaning, you just missed something by mistake. Same rules apply.
there are far too many 'sue to get rich quick' as*holes to be taking any chances.

All those "Good ole guys" passing cars that shouldn't,  Karmas a real bitch when that vehicle gets involved in an accident and DOT is on the scene. Especially if there's a fatality. Lying about how all that illegal stuff wasn't on that car when you inspected it only works if it's been at least 9 months or longer, but say you slap a sticker on a car like this. Unless you really trust the owners welds, there's a chance he could be in a five car pile up leaving your station. How you gonna say all that work got done in less than 15 min.?

I know whatcha mean, i take a good 45- an hour safety inspecting cars, i sure as hell don't want to be sued, but i read the books, and i know what passes and what doesn't

I don't want to kill myself, or a friend. which is why i have disc brakes, In ontario, this car will pass,

the cutoff date in ontario for things like seat belts, reverse lights, dual wipers, more than one taillight, Side marker lights and that sort of stuff is 1971 and newer, 1970 and older cars don't require these things, Among other stuff

Its also important to know that 1971 and newer cars, ALL lighting, and safety related equipment thats present needs to work, (you can still shave marker lights/reverse on these cars)

on a 1970 car or older you can actually pass if your reverse lights don't work for example, Not every mechanic will allow it, But thats how it works

Baldwinvette77

NEED TO CUT A HOLE IN THE HOOD, BUT WHO CARES EVERYTHING CLEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :woohoo:

Steve P.

It looks to me like the motor needs to be moved back about a foot... The more you can push it back, the better the entire car will handle and feel. This is why mid engine cars launch and handle so well.. Well, not entirely, but you get the idea..

Keep in mind how much weight you are adding to the nose with all the heavy wall steel already..

OK, now I am confused as hell, what the heck is the motor!  :o Oil pump is in the right places for a BB, did you install the water pump housing upside down? Why is there a thermostatic housing in the intake manifold. :shruggy:

Guess I really missed something at the start of this butchery, Hum I meant build! Is that a old Poly Block?

I am totally confused now and David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan don't have shit on you! Your Charger makes there Road Kill Charger look NOS!  :eek2:

That's the Industrial BB engine.....commonly referred to as junk. Need to swap those heads and water closet for 'car' stuff. This is why A LOT of motor home engines are for sale cheaper. One can't use the entire top end.

Someone get this kid a set of 346/906 heads, water closet that doesn't look like something out of MadMax, and an intake so he can remove about 25 lbs from that set up and make more power to boot.

Also, set the engine back as stated. No room for radiator/fan.

For those who didn't read the entire thread, this person is building from rust out to a drivable car for as little money as he can.. He damn sure knows that all parts can be found and bought, but he is returning this car as he wants with extremely little out of pocket.. He has said before that he wants it his way and what mistakes he makes are his and will fix what he feels needs to be fixed... I personally think he's doing a great job. Some things I would do differently, but he has a pretty large set that I don't see with many others here. Including myself!!  I applaud his work and creativity. Not only that but I am enjoying watching his build.  :2thumbs:
