Twin Turbo it?  :shruggy:

I've always been a naturally aspirated guy, but with low compression, you can probably add a good amount of boost to it.  If you know any generator mechanics, you can probably score some decent older turbo's cheap too  :Twocents:

That's what I did back in the early 2000's with a 2.3 turbo engine in my College years.  Blew up the auto tranny something fierce, but it was worth it for the 3 days of power lol...
Every great legend has it's humble beginning.
Project 668:
1968 Dodge Charger (318 Car)
Projected Driveline:
383 with mild stroke
Carb intake w/Holley 750 VS

6-Speed Dodge Viper Transmission

Fully rebuilt Dana-60 w/Motive gears. 3.55 Posi, Yukon axles.

Finished in triple black.

Start with checking the standard bore size versus what bored out size it will end up, Ron maybe able to help , but I thought 413 were close to 383 size bores , but check so many after market pistons out there, and for one tip to get those pistons up higher in the bore check available chev GM after market rods , common journal or crank bearing sizes, I did a 383 stroker years ago this way, off set ground a 440 crankshaft to 383 journal size used chev rods to suit stroke , lots of options  think out side the box , which you already are great work , a real deathproof charger not a pretend movie version  :2thumbs:

Thanks for the advice, i think i'll machine the heads rather than the block, much easier to move
i reinstalled the original dish pistons, new rod bearings,, didnt have a piston ring compresser, so modified a bent oil filter wrench, and with the help of my best friend, we assembled the shortblock, hes not a car guy, but im freaking thrilled, i never did much engine work before nothing major, never assembled a shortblock, and im pretty excited its not a run of the mill chevy, but that could lead to problems

for my first engine assembly, all things considered its not going bad, i nicked a journal slightly but thats really all thats worth mentioning, also bought some more parts along with the bearings; gaskets, headers, a cam, lifters, an oil pan, a engine mount weld up kit etc.

... yup.. pretty awesome.. :coolgleamA:

Cooter

Yikes!!!! He's gotta big block!

Now the fun begins. :2thumbs:
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

Baldwinvette77

well i haven't been doing much obviously , mostly been doing research on engine building, cleaning my old parts and figuring out whats missing, turns out im missing like 70% of the bolts and fasteners, so i ordered a bunch from 440Source.com

also after a bit of thinking i think i figured out a way to mend the broken engine mount problem, using a piece of angle iron i made, i used an existing hole in the block to anchor the mount and keep it from moving.. i hope...

also got the stock 413 heads on, and a new cam and lifters,

stock, this engine made around 235-265 hp, and between 400-420 ft/lbs of torque.. nothing special, but engine work is all new to me, and i rather build a cheap engine and have it fail, rather than an expensive one and have it explode.

also found a working, free clutch master cylinder, made by "lockheed in england", kinda cool, it has a built in reservoir

No offense but you really gotta get a decent camera. It would be nice to see what you are doing a little better that's all. Good to see you are still chuggin along. :2thumbs:

Do any of the cameras have a flash/ no flash feature? I started taking pictures with available lighting instead of the flash with mine and they seemed to come out better. Also how is the lighting in general in your shop? The out door shots seem o.k. Maybe all you need is one of those cheap halogen work lights that clamp to stuff.  :shruggy: :shruggy:

If he is using a cell phone it has to be from the 90s early 2000s phones, maybe flip phone?

Look. Sometimes you have to work with what you have. Since the outdoor photo's are fine all I am suggesting is that it just may be a matter of lighting the subject to get better results from the camera you have. No need to go spend a bunch of money on a new camera when what you have much just be good enough with a little help.
Below are 2 examples of the same shot taken with different lighting . One shows a little more detail than the other by just moving a drop light.

Don't be hatin' on the flips phones, some people still use those.

bill440rt

Very possible it's the settings on the camera. Check what picture taking mode the camera is in, resolution setting, etc.
Are you holding the button down halfway first allowing the camera to focus before snapping the photo?  :shruggy:

Hey I resemble that remark. Most of the pics I post here were taken with the flip phone I've had for the last 3 or 4 years, including my avatar pic.  :yesnod:

Sorry Baldwinvette77. Didn't mean to turn your thread into a photography tutorial. I'm still rooting for you. Keep up the great effort. You are doing more with a lot less than a lot of other folks that's always impressive to me.

no problem man, im just trying to figure it out, i actually take 10-20 good quality pictures everyday for work, so im not exactly a novice, but i'm still stumped why they come out so poorly at home, but ok at work, ofcourse lighting is better there.... i need to outfit my garage better  :rotz:

fy469rtse

Keep up the great , work,
with your engine, look at doing that angle to the other side of mount as well , it will keep the head of the bolt from trying to walk, or twist putting more pressure on the other mounting tabs , also if you do like the other side with the angle up hard against the block like you have done, I think it should hold, and not move
great work , keep it up
? new cam lifters going in this engine, just make sure when you fire her for the first time , oil primed , every thing set up so no leaks to run that camshaft in properly , 20 minutes above 2000 rpm, check the engine threads on here to see why this is important, the rest should be ok ,

everythings fine car related, been getting the Oldsmobile street worthy as it will need to be my daily driver to college from oct 28 to dec 28, however going to school will actually give a little more time to work on the charger  :coolgleamA:

i ordered some more important pieces, a couple things to finish up the engine, a wicked 3rd member for the ford 9" a 5:29 ration spining a spool diff., Should be perfectly safe in the rain.

also getting a bellhousing so i can test fit the engine and transmission and make mounts.

Last but the most awesome of all, i met a guy on my street who builds engines for a living, has an automotive spray booth at his workplace, taught me how to rebuild heads.
and gets wicked discounts at machine shops, so my 413 motorhome heads are gonna get a wicked freshning up, hopefully i can raise the comp. ratio, and make them flow better, they have a really unique look.  :coolgleamA:

and THE REAL LAST, standad big block headers dont fit these heads, so hoefully with the help of my uncles plasma cutter, i can make some custom header flanges that do fit, and weld the headers to that new flange.

so... expect updates throughout the winter

Sound's to me like she may move on her own before the winter is through  :yesnod:

Come spring I'll have to play catch up eh?
