yup, but they aren't cheap, my first plan, when i first got the car was to build a perfectly flat taillight panel like the nascar chargers, and use 70-72 chevelle, camaro or corvette taillights to mimic the 68 charger lights  :scratchchin:

Old Tired Rebel

I wish I could come up with a change in taillights that would look good other than 71-74 Charger taillights and I haven't come up with anything.

i know i have lost brother somewhere.... could be you? not to many ppl willing to take on a project like this and kick its ass! have had a few cars like this and went crazy with the randoms and fabs...to bad digital cameras where over a grand back then and i didnt really care about pics anyway! i swear i have had the best naps in and under my cars  :smilielol:

Reason I mentioned it baldwin was there was this old black guy that owned a 68 Charger herr. Bought it new. Thing had like 400k on it. He put 5 timing chains in it. Anyway, this thing looked like something out of Mad Max. Torino Cobra tail light half assed in, shoebox hoodscoop he made himself back in the 70s, side pipes, air shocks, spring shackles, 12"wide Cragars in back sticking out, with traction bars, and enough body filler to own stock in the Bondo corp. Flat black primer, chain link steering wheel, etc. Wish I had pics.

no kidding about the naps, i slapped a corvette steering wheel (temporary) and a forester bucket in my car a couple weeks ago and spent the night in it, best sleep i ever had, no lie  :2thumbs:

sounds alot like a pink 70 charger i took parts from, although add fiberglass patches and deduct torino lights, scoops and sidepipes.

Started work on the charger again, i kinda owe the bank money, so im just doing as many free things as i can  i started with the dashboard, mounted gauges i already had, a coronet glove box door on gate hinges, locked via fridge magnets.

and an odometer from a 68 mustang, an odometer is the only gauge required to pass a safety in ontario, you dont even need a speedometer  :shruggy: im just going to hook it up and leave it be, i dont care if its accurate, also got a steering wheel from a 66 imperial, among other odds and ends from the same car.

still have lots of things to do to it, mostly trying to make it look decent. add a radio, etc., etc.

also started cutting and notching tubing for the roll cage, also mounted the hood, but i seriously need to get the car in good light before i get pictures of those.. or a new camera... or both  :scratchchin:

Old Tired Rebel

Interesting bit about the odometer. Will you be putting in a speedometer in later?

Probably not, too much trouble to find the right drive gear between my yet-to-be-chosen axle ratio, unknown tire size and whatever transmission i find  :scratchchin:

Any particular one you would be looking for?

im not even sure if i want an automatic or a manual

Anyways mounted the hood for napping purposes and also tacked together a roll cage, now i know some of you might be wondering about the bars in the window....

next ill continue working on the dashboard, i think it's slightly too Crude  :shruggy:

i've decided to nickname the car Deathtrap since one of my neighbours saw the rollcage and asked if i was building a screaming metal deathtrap, it wasn't my intention... but it sure looks like its going that direction :METAL:

Baldwinvette77

Windows bars... i saw it in a video game ok?  :popcrn:

I hope the rear window will go in.  It's concave.  In other words, it's not flat and curves into the interior.

Old Tired Rebel

Wow it sure has come a long way... Want to come and do mine??? J/K

screaming metal deathtrap

Baldwin, I want to see that across the top of the back window on a sticker when it's done.

Or, across the taillight panel or down the side of the rocker panels, written in welds! Surely you're got a steady enough hand to write with a welder by now.? :P

I was talking about the rear glass.  I think I mentioned it.  But, you're absolutely right, the windshield does curve outwards.
