So I guess I do not have to look for one then  ;)

I had to take mine apart also because they were stuck
I just took the grinder and ground off the end of the shaft that stuck through the lever
Pushed the shaft out of the aluminum housing (right full of dried rust and dirt around the shaft)
Cleaned it all up and mig welded the lever back onto the shaft

Yeah cutting the shaft would have been better, but the driver side came loose so easily i tried it again  Ohwell

Baldwinvette77

i got the wiper transmission in, it wasnt easy but it wasnt hard, but i still need to patch the driver side.. that i broke

Im like the king of butchers, i cut things up, then fix them then cut them up again.

i had to cut a section of the cowl to make repairs to the bracket

still have to fix this

Baldwin make sure that you see "Mad Max Fury Road" when it comes out (5-15-15). As it will even motivate even more to do things to your version of a "Mad Max" style Charger.

Love your work as you have a distinctive way of doing things that differ from the rest of us in this community.

Hell yeah i will, I've been wanting a mad max 4 since i saw the trilogy back in 2006  :coolgleamA:

sometimes i even impressive myself, like with the wiper transmission, i knew it would be hell finding another locally, but at the same time if it was possible i'd love to have stock wipers, it took me about an hour to come up with an idea to fix the spindle, but looking back at it it just seems so obvious now

also i really like the split cowl  :coolgleamA:

also i really like the split cowl  :coolgleamA:

I think you did this part tooo good
No weld marks hard to notice unless you know there should be vents all the way across

So i went back to the junkyard, picked up a junk wiper motor to help me with wiring, which i'll replace which a good one (unless it turns out these are simple to fix or something)

i stuck on the 66 master cylinder to help adjust the brake switch and to hang loose wires from, it'll also donate the pushrod

i also went back to that butchered 66 to take off the wiper hole thinghy that i stuck back on my car

i also got a small block alternator and brackets to use as a starting point to fabricate my own mounts, since the 413 mounts are unique and long gone

i also found a water pump pully

Baldwinvette77

Made an alternator bracket... now if you dont mind, ima go back out and enjoy the kickass weather  :coolgleamA:

so, i just got a distributor from an old speed shop that had it sitting on its shelf since 1983, and them i asked "do you have a hold down for it" and he said "yup, but they ain't cheap, i want 25$ for it" i choked a little, came home with the distributor alone, and made my own hold down, with blackjack, and hookers  :smash:

why is it blue? cause my neighbour gave me a can of blue spray paint, and im out of matte black for now :'(

Baldwinvette77

I got a can of black semi-gloss at a garage sale for 50 cents.. it was no good for the body, but i put it to use (wasted it) elsewhere

Also i made my own wiper switch to motor harness... i think .. i still have to figure out how the switch works, and where it sends current to the motor.. Trial and error i supposed

Thanks man  :coolgleamA:  I was hoping someone still cared, I actually met a guy today who has a wicked 70 gto, he gave me an ignition coil, which was pretty much the only thing he had that would work on my car, i cut up a busted oil filter wrench o mount it, and i wired up.. atleast im pretty sure i wired it up

also i painted my grille with the remaining black paint  :coolgleamA:

JB400

You got General Mayhem beat, at least in my book. :2thumbs:

THE CHARGER PUNK

This is the most amazing thread i've read since joining back in 03, awesome job man , I'm lovin it stronggg ! keep at it :coolgleamA:

toocheaptosmoke

It's a true junk yard dog.  :2thumbs:  It takes dedication to continue patching together and fixing up old parts, even when there's the option to spend some bucks and get another one.  When you take a piece of scrap and make it work again, you own that part more than if you just bought another one.

timmycharger

Keep at it man, still one of my favorite builds on this site, reminds me of my buddy back in the 90's with his 68, except you have excellent welding skills!

Where there is a will, there is a way!

Baldwinvette77

Thanks guys!, Support always helps keep you going, even when you have no idea where youre going

Scored s'more crap today, i went to a local autoparts store, bought a 440 cap and rotor and was greeted with a slant 6 cap.. it still fit so i stuck it on and realized... thats kinda high... and it turned out it hit the hood ever so slightly, so some minor trimming had to happen.

i went back to that junkyard, found some big block parts including a half decent cap, a dipstick and tube that won't work, So i guess ill make my own tube out of brake or fuel line. a throttle bracket a bunch of plug wires which will help me determine a safe routing pattern and if stock wires will work or if i'll have to make some up.

i found a distributor hold down.. i wont use it since i like mine more, but hey, it was free, so it'll make  a nice spare

also found some extra headlight buckets AND a wicked long driveshaft, its freaking 74" long  :o

it was 10$ so i bought it in the hopes i can cut it down to fit my car.

parts donor

i also had 2-1/4 inch exhaust piping from a 92 jeep that i collected from a shop, as well as these imco? mufflers, idunno, free is free, and if all goes well ill have 24$ in the entire exhaust system

Baldwinvette77

FUEL LINE DIPSTICK MOTHERTRUCKERS!  :woohoo:

MxRacer855

Those tricky leaky chrome thermostat housings...

Baldwinvette77

Funny thing about that thermostat housing, it was left here by the previous owners of the house  :scratchchin: along with a piston ring compressor and a nitrous jet set  :shruggy:

skip68

Hey, are you using .023 or .030 wire?    I doubt you're using. 035.
What's your welding setup?

Baldwinvette77

.030  :yesnod:  its a good for thick steel and sheet metal, the .025 doesnt like thick steel and the .035 chews up sheet metal

i use an argon/co2 mix and i usually just set my regulator once and use it at that setting for the rest of the day, you need more flow on a windy day than on a calm day

skip68

 :2thumbs:  that's what I run is .030.
I was just curious.   Now get back to work.  :nana:
