Getting titles varies state to state.  Here in Mo, they're real strict about vehicle titles.

Is that what happens in the US?  Here in Canada, they will probably shrug and say, 'go get one.'  Or, 'we can provide you a VIN tag if you go through this inspection process.'

I hand built a car with no VIN.  I went to the registry and they gave me a form, had it inspected and ta da, new VIN!

I've been to the registry where the VIN didn't exactly match the car (older car), they came right outside, looked at the vin and said, 'oh, the 8 looks like a 3', no problems, and fixed it right there.

Easy.

funny story, my 70 olds cutlass was accidentally registered as a 70 olds 442 (different vin numbers) i check my insurance one day and noticed my black cutlass was registered as a red 442 with my actual cutlass vin number and license plate, i called them and they said "ok, we'll correct that"

He doesn't need a title.  We live in Canada.  NO TITLES.

We have registration and insurance, only.  Getting registration is not going to be a problem as he said.  Where I live the official, be all and end of all of 'ownership' is your bill of sale.  That's it.

if you have trouble with title , get, save my message where you can find it, I have a vin for dash, matching build plate and numbers on a top radiator support I could cut out and send you, could also write up dummy receipt for car, there is always a way , its my spare parts car , too far away here in Australia to do you any good for other parts , but keep it in mind, it was just a poor small block nothing car, more rust then yours, bought it for parts almost broke in two when picked it up.

So...

When he goes to register and insure it, and they ask...

"What's the Vehicle Identification Number ?"

And he says...

"I don't have one"...

...Then what? :shruggy:

Impound yard ?

Hand cuffs ?

Three hots and a cot sharing a cell with

a new best friend named "Bubba"? :shruggy:

The time to discover all of this, and get everything legal, in writing from who ever has the official

power to anoint this "vehicle" with a legal identification is now, not later. :Twocents:

i sent the local DMV an email, i'll see what they say tomorrow, hopefully their reply will be more than 3 words long  :rotz:

Baldwinvette77

i'll keep that in mind  :2thumbs:

anyway, guess who just mercilessly beat their oldsmobile like a starving packmule to haul home a complete 1971 413  and another set of 440 cylinder heads (total of 4 heads)

yup... i honestly feel bad about this.. poor thing  :'(   anyway bought all this stuff plus more thats not pictured for 250$  :shruggy:

the cylinder bores are visually perfect, no scoring, also apparently its an "industrial block" so its supposedly stronger  :shruggy: idunno, im no mopar expert

i'll take your word for it, this could be a cool winter project assembling a motor  :scratchchin: ..... now how the hell do i get this out of the car  :brickwall:

Old Tired Rebel

Very Very carefully. Let me look and see if  there is a link for BB Mopar engines.

Baldwinvette77

spent 5 seconds just now.. (well maybe 2 minutes) prototyping a shifter handle, i scrounged up some shit i found at work and in my garage and decided a B&M shifter knob with a bolt threded in it, welded to a chrome tire iron and nestled inside and old driveshaft boot (FWD) would work best, god i love free problem solving  :coolgleamA:

Great idea there. One question what is the trailer ball on the idler arm for?

no kidding about the back problems, now i have an slight idea of what old tire rebels going through  :rotz: but yeah, the engine doesnt need to be a high horsepower monster, torque is more badassed  :coolgleamA: especially when hooked to a 6 speed and a 5:13 r&p on a spool  :drive:

Old Tired Rebel

What ever you do don't hurt your back it will haunt you the rest of your life. Do you have a equipment rental center there? You can rent a engine hoist for a reasonable amount.

i own an engine hoist, its sitting in the garage, i also have an engine stand, a small block chevy is calling it home, but the chevy with be dropped onto an old tire for a while so the 413 can be built  :smilielol:

Old Tired Rebel

There you go. But what is this for the ball hitch?

Baldwinvette77

i was thinking BADASS SHIFTER HANDLE while walking with the 2 pieces in my pocket on the way home, i have no idea where my shifter is going to be in the cab of the car, i dont know if i need an offset shifter, or a short shifter or a long one etc. i'm leaving my options open  :coolgleamA:

Still amazed when I see this collection of parts and you know what to do with them.

I HAVE to buy a running car with known good trans, if I have any hope to get my Charger driving.  And here you are buying what look like random parts to me with confidence.  Bravo!!

Well it aint running yet :)

The best part will be to see it move on it's own power for the first time (with out the wheels falling off, catching on fire ...)
next project 70 Charger FJ5 green

idunno, catching fire seems like a cool bonus to it actually running  :scratchchin:  :coolgleamA:
