Gramp's Last Gift for Me...a 68 Charger!

Let me say that I can appreciate everyone's comments and concerns for the decision to sell this car.  And, even though several were a little hard to read, I understand where you are coming from, especially the proud grandpa's.   Please DO NOT take my experience as the example of what will happen with the 2nd and 3rd generations that may get your pride and joy.  There are several undisclosed issues here of why I am departing with this car and those of which shall remain private. 

But I will say this, when my grandfather passed, this car was given to my cousin and me indirectly as a co-ownership.  It was discussed as an option to sell the car as it was in pieces but I volunteered to bring her back to her former glory out of respect to him and to the family.  That is what I have done.  The decision to part with the car is not all on my shoulders, although I have agreed to it.  I will make sure that she gets to a nice home that will care for her as much as I have this last few months.

I posted hoping that you'd enjoy the journey no matter what decision was made.  For those of you who provided guidance, I thank you.

Well, thank you for sharing this story and keeping another charger together.  Very sad day indeed that you have to part with this car since it has been in your family since new.     However, I do understand that things happen and as much as we would love to hold onto each car that we have ever owned in our family, things happen and we have to roll the dice.

Don't be a stranger here even though you are selling the car since some things you might have come across working on this car could help others out who might be working on the same problem.

Again, sorry to hear about this decision but in the end, it will all work out and hopefully it goes to a good home!

I feel a little different than some of the post, if you want to keep the car but are forced to sell then I am sorry and hate to hear it. But if you want to sell it because it isn't the type of car you want then that is fine too. I love these cars and always have, but everyone is different and a Charger isn't everyone's dream car.  I bet your grandpa would want you to do what's best for you and your family regardless Of the outcome of the car. I respect the fact that you spent the time to piece the car back together rather than just sell or auction immediately. That would have been a lot easier. As much as I love my charger, and don't have any desire to sell, at the end of the day it is still just a car. What really matter is our relationship with God, our families, then our hobbies (which I think should be mopars!)

true as said, you did a beautiful job on the resto. and due to agreements and circumstances, if you have to sell, then that is what needs to be done. thanks for allowing us to follow the resurection journey. good luck to you.

It's a family legacy & would be really nice to keep her   , but now after saying that, It's also apparent you have to do what you need to do, it's not just your decision... I'm sure it is a hard one to make too... thanks for sharing your story, it was a good read... Good luck with your sale...

IMO he has it set at a fair price that's for sure....I'm sure someone will offer him 25k and will take it....man she is a beauty.
