I have plenty of friends that use it and have done so forever. I have no objections. Each to his own. Live and let live.  :2thumbs:

92.  Would you rather die for a myth or live through medical research? Medical investigators in Spain have discovered that a compound in marijuana shrinks brain tumors. Tragically, this amazing discovery had been made thirty years earlier in the U.S.—but the authorities were afraid it would "send the wrong message to our children." It's time for the U.S. Government to sweep aside the political ideology about marijuana and let the scientists do their work. Camera-ready copy of this PSA is available in Portable Document Format (PDF).

87.  "Internists Endorse Legal Access to Medical Marijuana" – The American College of Physicians, the nation's largest organization of Internists, is calling for protection of both doctors and patients from criminal and civil penalties in states that have adopted medical-marijuana laws. Camera-ready copy of this PSA available in Portable Document Format (PDF).

Lots of reading here, but  in short this is Nixon's open tapes on the drug war. He not only tells his commission head that we have to scare them, but scares the commission head and his commission into what we have today.. Much of the first few pages are showing what little BAD there was found by anyone about pot...

I will still feel the same at the end as I do now, so don't try to bet me on this one.  Even if I was very ill, that still would not reverse my opinion, as I have aready stated that I do not condemn the medical uses, just the non-medical uses of said material...

My views on this subject are my own based upon what I already know about this subject in fine detail and not likely to change ever.  If there was a complete reversal in the scientific literature over its effect on the brain, then there may be a chance, but I would not hold your breath on that happening in my lifetime.  There is already a very strong link to brain damage from taking it and the evidence about that is just getting stronger as time goes on.  Also, there is now a possible link to taking dope and some forms of mental disorders.  It is being looked into futher with more studies, as it would be hard to automatically judge a causality without determing if the people were already mentally ill before taking the dope.  All factors have to be gone over to validate the data source before jumping to full conclusions...

And yet in the papers that I just posted they say there is evidence that pot helps reconnect broken paths in the brain. I wish I could remember better just what and where I read it so I could quote it for you, but it seems you are not reading any of what I post since you think the reversal of what you already know probably won't happen in your lifetime.. For someone who claims to be scientific it's a shame you don't seem to want to learn more..

Fact is Chad, I don't care if you will use it in your lifetime.. It's not my intention to get anyone to start smoking pot. What I am trying to do is raise the issue and get more people to read about it and maybe save their life. Stretch their life out or give them the info to help someone close to them..

The simple fact that smoking pot DOES HELP with many medical issues and the government has robbed us of it as a medicine when FULL WELL KNOWING of it's medicinal properties is reason enough for me to NOT trust anything they have said in the past on the subject. Topping that I believe the government has since gone along to save face. Not to mention the drive of private prisons...

Since we are on the subject, I unlocked some of my ideas and let them stew in my head over the weekend.  My approach using the THC erratication in the plants may need another piece to get it to completion.  Granted, the correct route is to go to the molecular level, but I see a much different target now in addition to the THC production site in the plant.  Lets just say it is a particular enzyme interface that may be templated to produce a blocker in the body directly.  I prefer the "broken key method" of fixality on this one.  If that happens, then the amount of THC left in the plant would no longer be of use to anyone to get "high", but still could be used for pain relief (medicinal properties intact but working differently in the body).  If that works, it could even be possibly applied to any illicit drug source, natural or synthetic....

I never had a problem with the medicinal properties of dope, but it does have some other ones that are less than favorable that leads to other problems.  If you can get rid of the non-medicinal part of the equation, then I have no problem with it bein legalized.  However, too many peole depend upon it to "make it through their day" when they should be doing better things with their time/mind....

I feel in the middle now.    :smilielol:   I hear what you're saying Chad and agree with you.  But on the other hand I seriously agree with Steve's link that is really crazy sounding about legalizing everything.   I say we give it a 2 year trial.     I just want to get rid of the drug dealers.

I watched that show American weed or something like that and it's clear who's the ones that are abusing the system and are dealers.   Even the cops think it's a loosing battle.  Finding just enough for personal use is no big deal.  The idiots that have plantations are ruining it for the others.  Especially when they hide it in their kids rooms and dressers.   That's f'd up.      I now think that if it were to become legal that most would treat it as I do with my rum & coke.    I've looked into it more than I ever cared to and it most definitely does have a medical purpose.

Reminds me of a school board meeting I went to where they wanted to bring up a permanent income tax lavy and their main arguement was " Lets try it and If we find we don't need it, we'll take it away"... and I'm like "Say what??,  And exactly which one of you are going to implement that one?"

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Steve P.

We are legal in a few states now. For the states that ok'd medical, the numbers of accidents and thefts and all the things people were afraid of stayed exactly the same. MOST drug related drivers are NOT stoned on pot. MOST are busted on prescription stuff like OXYCODONE and VICODIN. There is another one that is used for sleep, but I forget the name..

I think most people think CHEECH and CHONG when they think POT.. That would be the extreme. Not even close to the norm.. Most people even know others that smoke pot and would never guess it...

I am pretty sure there are far more accidents due to idiots on cell phones than smoking pot.
