Tiller, I understand you feel that way, but do NOT understand why it matters about growing it.. The simple fact is it should never have been made criminal to use pot!!! It has been used for medicine for as far back as books take us. It is no different than other herbs or vegetables.

I know I wrote a book here, but I believe it is worth reading. Those are people I know and see almost daily. The doctor is 2 times per month.

My grandparents and their siblings going back a few generations, all but 2 died from cancer. My favorite aunt died from a brain aneurysm and my G3-father died of lead poisoning.. He was the town doctor and as he retired, sold off his farm and was shot in the back and left for dead. EVERYONE ELSE has died from cancer... That same G3-father smoked pot and was in his 70's when most were dead of old age by 40's.  You can bet that I will be smoking pot the day they decriminalize it.

What if the government said: You cannot work on your own car as it takes money out of the hands of dealer mechanics??? Along with that, NO AFTERMARKET PARTS could be made for cars. Only factory made and sold parts.. You would go out of your mind!!! Screaming about your freedom and rights would be every moment you were awake!!! You can't paint your own house anymore. Have to pay for an OIL CHANGE!!! Can ONLY have sex in 1 government set position. 1st born are taken away to be slaves. Men must stay home and do ALL the housework. Woman have to sit in the livingroom and drink coffee and show you that little dust bunny you missed!!

Ok, all of this is deep end, right?? REALLY!!!! We are TUNED TO BELIEVE pot is a BAD BAD BAD thing... Yet there is not one record of anyone ever overdosing from smoking pot. NOT ONE!!! Every other drug on the market, INCLUDING ASPIRIN can kill you in overdose and that is on everyone's shelf!! WHY? Because you cannot easily make ASPIRIN at home.. You cannot easily make most drugs at home... Matter of fact, I cannot think of ANT!!  BUT study after study by colleges all over the country and World have proven the good pot gives as a medicine for very many ailments..

Ponder this also: In countries where pot is sort of overlooked the recorded numbers of cancer, ms, diabetes and many other ailments is much, much lower.. MOst of those countries also have a much lower rate of murder and most everything leading up to it.. Burglary I would think is probably on top and NO ONE has the amount of prisons and prisoners that we do.. For a "FREE SOCIETY" ,, well,,,, something to ponder.

I'm going to do a little research on it today.  I'm not really sure where to look for good facts.    I never got into smoking pot so I don't know if it gives you the same affect is beer or booze.     I do know it's a form of narcotic and like any narcotic a certain amount of responsibility and consideration must be given before it's made available to the public.     I'm definitely going to look into it and it's properties for helping prevent some cancers and diseases.   I still will probably feel it should be prescription only but I may get my eyes opened a bit.   I think the stigma attached to it is probably what's blinding me and others on the subject.   You called me on it Steve and you're right, I need to educate myself a bit more with a more open mind.    Steve or anyone else have good links on the benefits of marijuana please post them.

My opinion on the issue at hand:

For medicinal purposes, I have no problem with it being used in that manner.

But, for all other uses:

If you want to legalize it, then the THC concentration needs to be toned down to natural levels (less than 4%) and not the 30+% that is found now in those plants.  Even 30+% is not good enough for some users, so they started up the whole synthetic THC "bath salts" to side track the issue even more.  If dope gets legalized, it should be heavly taxed and controlled just like tobacco and alcohol, but with even steeper values.  Not everyone needs to get "high" to be happy in life.  (When did we become so lost in our ways that this became one of our main goals?  Truely sad.)  Sorry, but I am one of the oddballs that happens to like government control on the drugs that can do damage to people.  Go back a century ago and you would have seen herion, morphine, and cocaine sold out of catalogs to young mothers to help them deal with their lives.  It really was the wild west of drug days.  Guess how much of that ended up in their kids as well.  The resulting deaths is why the FDA got its start.  I can see well in advance that if it became legalized, then it would lead to more non-medicinal users and they start giving it to their kids as well.  Not a good way to carry on to the next generation....

Chad, I have no idea what you are saying other than you think EVERYONE wants to get STONED..

1). It is the THC in this plant that is the medicine.
2). NOT GOOD ENOUGH is that slippery slope. People made BATH SALTS not because they could make anything stronger. They made if because there was no law against it.. Every day they come up with something else to throw in or use as a base that you can buy legally anywhere. On top of that, the numbers of people that DID and WOULD make their own are tiny.. If pot were legal and could be bought at the local drugstore, it would be regulated. It would be taxed. Why do you think it should be controlled with even steeper values?? Why should it be heavily taxed???  Do you not think the 70 BILLION DOLLARS of taxpayer dollars spent every year is NOT ENOUGH??? NOBODY DIES from smoking POT!!!!! EVER!!!! So why TAX IT HEAVILY??  Do you know the government use to say SMOKING CIGARETTES was good for you?? Doctors did as well...  What turned this around?? CANCER.. But wait, POT has been proven to stop cancer in it's tracks. It has been proven that people that smoke pot have a much lower chance of ever waking the beast up!!! The WRONG people are making money off from pot being illegal. ANd they are ALL CORPORATIONS that CONTROL IT...

Government should NEVER have control of what you do to your own body.. WHO are they to have such control of you??? And if you believe that, why aren't we all using government provided doctors that count up every time we sneeze? Of course that would lead to them knowing every time we fart, laugh, snore, screw, scratch and have a thought too!! The epidemic we have NOW is government control of what we do for or to our own bodies. Watch the last video I posted and pay attention to the figures he puts on the screen. 

Do you think pot is more or less harmful than the nuclear chemicals they pump into us now to combat CANCER??? Pot is far far far less harmful. Doctors today that have cancer do NOT go for CHEMO.. They go out of country or to California to smoke pot and juice pot and other veggies!!!!

3). Who said everyone needs to get high to be happy in life.. Certainly not me!! I do not get high. I take lots of drugs for pain and for someone that is NOT in pain would be very high, but they do not and never have gotten me high. My wife takes THC in a pill and does not get high.  I have no idea why you think everyone that uses pot is doing so to GET HIGH!! Who taught you that???

4). Yes, you didn't even have to use a magazine or the mail. You could buy high quality MORPHINE and POPPY and HEROIN and others directly in a drug store.. You could send your child into the drugstore to buy it for you..  The GOVERNMENT came up with getting rid of it to get rid of immigrants from CHINA.  The first law against it's legal use was actually written that (NO CHINAMAN) can legally buy it..... This is not BS.. Look it up... Had it not been for such a wonderful idea buy greedy shits in congress it would still be legal... 
You want to keep it out of kids, educate. Don't JAIL people.. There are MILLIONS OF PEOPLE with lives ruined due to a joint. Again, watch the last video. It covers in a half hour what would take me a year...

5). The FDA is a damn good idea. BUT, again, the FDA should not be able to CRIMINALIZE anything you want to do with your own body.. Do you know it is illegal to take your own life?? Not much they can do directly to you as you are dead, BUT,,,, BY LAW, insurance companies do not have to pay our a claim if you took your own life.. So, I get cancer and can't smoke pot because it is illegal. I can't afford to move my family to California or Colorado because I can no longer work due to my cancer and my bills are piling up tremendously and have already eaten away any saving we had. Maybe the kids college money is gone too. I am in more pain than I can stand. I need constant care and my poor wife, well, she is handicapped with MS and can't really take care of me. So now my kids are staying home from school to take care of me as it takes both of them to move me around. Now the school wants to jail me for keeping my kids home and they are daily watching me deteriorate. Wife can't stand it anymore. She is getting no better (EVEN THOUGH WE COULD BE REPAIRING HER PROBLEM WITH POT). But we can't even smoke pot bought off the corner DEALER because if we get caught, we will lose our home. Both go to jail where we will for sure both live till we die and our kids get put into a home someplace more than likely separated... I ask you, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT??  And if you think that is bizarre and would never happen, go to any nurse that has worked in a hospital and ask them about the lives of some cancer patients. And who is protected in all of this??? Well lets see. The drug companies got all the money I did have.. Insurance ran out due to non payment. Bank got the house and car. and son of a bitch if the life insurance company didn't have to pay out because I couldn't stand the pain anymore and took my own life!!!! Yes. CORPORATE AMERICA WINS AGAIN.....

6). Everyone said: If you make booze legal again it will make more users. They also said if you make POT ILLEGAL it will get rid of the DRUG PROBLEM.. The number was the same then as it is today and all we have done is created a country full of CONVICTS for the sake of something they were only doing to themselves... Today we know it is something FOR OURSELVES....

I am not on this kick to give anyone hell. This is solely because we as a country have been wrong and wronged. It is time to really educate ourselves and move forward. I do NOT know it all, nor do I claim to. I am merely passing on the best info I have at my disposal.. NOT MY FEELINGS about it and certainly not what I was taught about it..  This rings very close to home for me, my wife and MANY PEOPLE on this site that do NOT want to stick their necks out. Call me a rebel.

Everyone could grow their own tobacco or make their own whiskey right now.   In the big picture very few people do.  As soon as something like pot becomes legal, the huge corporate producers will quickly corner the vast majority of the market.  

There will also doubtlessly be "micro-breweries" of pot just like tobacco & booze, but the basic point stands.  Suburbia will not become littered with pot farms in half the backyards just because it's legal. 


I suppose there may be a burst of individuals growing pot just because of the sudden freedom for the first few years.  But in the long term I'm sure it will end up just like every other mass-consumed agricultural substance: Mass-produced.

WOW!   Very interesting reading today.    Sorry Steve but I haven't checked your links yet.   I've been researching on my own.    If what I've been reading is true then you are correct Steve.   Last year in San Francisco two scientists completed research on the effects of THC and ID-1.  ( ID-1 is the gene that spreads cancer )  

The THC injections stops the cancer from spreading in lab tests in both petri dish and in lab animals.    They did say that by smoking it you wouldn't get enough.    So, Why the heck aren't we harvesting this THC and giving injections to cancer patients?    Is it a FDA thing?    Apparently our wonderful government has known about the good in THC for some time.   I still am not in favor of it being legal to anyone other than medical patients.    Chad, do you know about this ID-1 gene and the effects THC has on it?    Like I said, if what I've been reading is true then we need this THC.

this synthetic pot that your talking about has nothing to do with real pot, it is highly addictive. we have a problem with it over here, its a lot like crack and you can buy it at the tobacconist. its designed for truck drivers ,mine workers etc were they are piss tested, this synthetic stuff don't show up.

I don't really buy this ideology. There's a lot of processing involved with cigarette and alcohol production. The kind of alcohol worth drinking is actually quite a pain to make, even your basic moonshine and microbrew beer requires a fair amount of work and space. You can grow tobacco plants but they don't taste very good and won't satisfy the addiction to nicotine most smokers have without all the extra crap the tobacco companies put in them. MJ, on the other hand, can be easily grown for the buds with very little processing. Not that I'm saying pot smokers WILL all be growing their own (perhaps no more than the "sudden burst" you mentioned) but they easily could without much hassle by comparison to the other two products. And mass pot production, if and when it is taken over by major companies, will probably include the same kind of addictive crap that's put into cigarettes. Any real or imagined health benefits MJ has now will probably be nullified by the chemists at Phillip Morris.

I am happy that people are questioning all of this. I am truly hoping everyone that sees this thread will watch at least the last video I posted. It answers most of not all of the questions I had and am getting here.

It is politics that started this, but I am not bringing this to anyone FOR THE POLITICS of it.. Only as an awareness and so people can see the facts and decide for themselves..

I use to be on the LAW side of the fence believing every word of : This is your brain. This is your brain on DRUGS... It was every other commercial when I was a kid.. WTF did I know?? Now I am looking at this like they are taking the SUN away from us!!

I watched a video, (well about as much as I could take), of a video on growing pot.. I believe you can just throw some seeds in the ground and see what you get, but watching this video I really don't see many people doing this at home.. AGAIN, I am all for it being completely legal. Just like tomatoes and oranges.  The HUGE thing about it being legally grown by real growers is you will be able to buy it without it being stepped on many times and other product added to it..

Bull was saying about Phillip Morris.. I sure don't want to see that either!! BUt like these states are already doing, the growers have to be legal and licensed and crops are checked just like other agriculture.  Adding or removing anything will harm the medicinal purpose, so why would we allow that?? I just don't want to see montesanto dumping crap into it to make it grow faster or special colors or pest free.. That is killing us NOW!!!!!

If corporate re-engineering can render tobacco into something unnatural then I see absolutely no reason why pot won't end up the same way.  

I imagine that many of the same tricks will apply to pot that they have been using on tobacco all these years.  Designing the filters to pass the govt tests without actually shielding the human user, chemically manipulating it to be more addictive, marketing it to middle school kids to get them addicted young, etc.




The whole country cries for legalizing pot, and it seems like nobody thinks about the implications of it even one step farther.  As if legalization will make the pot situation change in only the ways everyone wants it to?  The local hippie dealer doesn't get busted anymore, and everything else is the same?  The world isn't that simple.

Again, this is why it should NOT be a controlled product. There is no reason to add anything to it or take anything from it. We don't add anything to aspirin to get you HOOKED on it....

I have never heard of the HIPPIE DEALER doing a drive by or selling at the local schoolyard.

GREED is the reason that anything is added to cigarettes. Corporate greed... And you can buy tobacco leaves that are dried and pure. You have to grind the leaves yourself and roll your own. You can also buy cigarette tubes that are factory made with no chemicals.. This is what I did for a year before I quit smoking COLD TURKEY... It was MUCH CHEAPER as well...

I can't tell you anything about bongs other than they are glass usually and have a bowl and an air hole you have to plug.  I have heard someone say something about putting wine in it or something.. I really don't remember.
