The price was simply impossible to resist. But, now, how do i get 4 rolling chassis cars home to PA? 2400 miles make shipping a minimum of 800$ per car! Any ideas?

Open would be fine. They need restored as is, so we arn't that worried about them. WE are however, poor.  :smilielol:

Trust me, I could resist.

I am not trying to be mean, as I really like Italian cars.    But what could possibly possess you to buy not one, but FOUR Bi-Troubles that don't run, and are 2400 miles away from home?

My friend, who won the auction, paid $51 for the lot.

That is $51 too much if you happen to live 2000 miles away from the cars.

What do you plan to do with them?

acelondon

We are going to restore them, and drive them. Even if we end up with only 1 working car, we will be happy.

Are they 2dr, 4dr or convertibles?

acelondon

2dr. We are hoping we can at least get them putting home...  :D

You said you are already poor.    You will be poorer when you are done.

There are several things working against an enjoyable experience of owning a Bi-Turbo:
They are difficult to work on.   A plumbers nightmare with miles of vacuum lines.
They have a history of being problematic.
They do not have much value when fixed up.
Parts are expensive.  I guess you'll have some spares.

If they were close, there's money to be made parting them.

There are so many better choices if you want a cheaper European sporty-type car.     But if you decide to go do this (it's not too late!),  be sure to document getting them running and putt-putting them home for us.

I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

acelondon

I'm far more likely to scrap my 74 charger to get these. I love old cars. The harder to own the better. This is what i do!

Justcrush &  cube them and throw them in the back of a U-Haul van.

JB400

At $51 for all 4 cars, I'd just sell the cars and make a profit off of them, then take that money and invest in something else closer to home. :Twocents:  But, then again, I'm not wanting a Maseratti ;)

Todd Wilson

Prolly be lucky to haul one of them for $1.50 a mile...........

Then when you get ready and drive one make sure you have a pair of aviator sunglasses on and a casette tape of this song playing!! "It's a Maserati, Maserati, Maserati, It's a fast one too man, that things turbocharged!  :coolgleamA:     "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqFUEcM9wR0
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Rolling_Thunder

If all the cars are being picked up and shipped to the same place it makes all the difference - cuts down on price drastically -  however....    2400 miles...    still a long way.

That is the Spyder version of the Bi-Trouble.   Because the top goes down, the price goes up.  It is the only one of the series with some resale value.

The money maker on those four hardtops is to get them over to a local salvage yard and collect the profits.   Then post on the net where they are and the locals can grab some parts.    Even if you could drive them home, doing the math on the fuel cost and expenses, I don't know how you make the numbers work.

Yeah, sure, I knew that.   ;)

You are talking to a guy with a POS 3rd gen with a 318 and an auto. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE VALUE OF A CAR. :brickwall: I just need to get them home for my buddy.
