Edelbrock IAS shocks

Was looking to get some IAS shocks but can't find them anywhere, are they discontinued?

Call Eaton Springs in Detroit.  When Edelbrock discontinued the shocks I had a pair of rear shocks but no fronts.  As soon as the word got out everyone was sold out real fast and the only place I found that still had a bunch was in Detroit.  Worth a shot.

QA1 non adjsutables may be another option. QA 1 bought out the Edelbrock line as well as Carrera shocks, Cap Auto Products and a couple other small manufacturers.

They got bought out by another company? That doesn't sound too good, usually when that happens quality goes down the toilet.

They sold the shock lineup to QA1. QA1 makes their own shock so maybe they are just eliminating the competition? If you are looking for a comparable shock look at the Bilsteins. If you want something better look at Hotchkis/Fox, QA1, or Ridetech shocks.

I don't see how the QA1's are even a comparable product to the IAS's.  Adjustability and complex valving are two different things.

I've read as many threads about shocks for my '69 as I could find. I came to the conclusion that KYBs are too harsh and Edelbrock IAS is the shock to get. I looked for them online and couldn't find them. Then, I found the thread that they are discontinued.
I went to the Eaton spring site. They supposedely have them at $84.89 each. That price sounds good. Then they want $68.98 to ship them via FEDEX! That brings them up to $102 and change each. Is the shock worth that price? If not, is there an alternative to the Edelbrock that is under $110 each?
They are going on a stock '69 R/T (440, 4 speed, 3.54 car) with the only change are BFG radial T/As (245-60x14 rear 225-70x14 fronts) on aluminum slots. Will I really notice a difference? I want to get rid of the cheesy air shocks that were on the car when I got it.

Woah that's one heck of a shipping cost!  Call them again and ask for an alternative, that is way too high.  The boxes are not that big and heavy.  Tell them you're not buying unless the cost comes down.

QA1 has several lines of differing shocks. Not all of them adjustable, not all of them aluminum bodied. Whether QA1 bought the E-brocks to cheapen them, improve their product line, or kill the product all together, I don't know.

The thing that made the E-brock shocks unique was that they used a less expensive version of the Ricor Inertia Valve. This valve is used extensively in motorcycle shocks. Ricor does make their own line of shocks, which tend to be used extensively in off road racing, so they tend to be very expensive, like in the $500+ each range.

Probably the most comparable to the E-brock, off the shelf, bolt in shock, but them today would be the Bilsteins.  But these are going to be similar in price to the E-brocks from Eaton at $100 each from Firm Feel. I'd ask Eaton if they are willing to change the shipping method to a ground delivery instead of FedEx and maybe that would save you $30-40 on the total.

The Edelbrock IAS shocks are great...got them on my 70 RR...but the Bilsteins are great also and have them on my GN.

That's what I was getting at above. 

The IAS's were popular because of their valving.  QA1's are popular because of their adjustability.  Two completely different things.

I contacted Eaton Detroit springs. They only have two rear classic Edelbrock IAS shocks left. They have no fronts.
I decided that it might not be a great idea to put two Edelbrocks on the rear and some different brand shocks on the front. Is that a safe assumption to make?
If anyone needs two Edelbrock classic rear shocks, they are $84.89 + $26.75 shipping. He said there are no other options for shipping.
So with all that being said, i am back to looking for a set of shocks. If you have suggestions of shocks you have used, please include model and brand and approx. price. I am putting them on a '69 R/T, 440 4 speed 3.54 rear. The car is stock and I have recently put BF Goodrich radials on the car. 215 70-14 front and 235 60-14 rear on aluminum slots.

Have you used the Bilsteins from Firm Feel? Do they ride nice? I heard the KYBs are a harsh ride.  Any feedback on this shock would be greatly appreciated.

Don't mix and match shocks.  Several members here run Bilsteins and I have not heard one bad word about them.  I'll likely get those when the IAS shocks are worn.
